Arnie Yáñez

Arnie (Drums & percussion) is originally from Alice, Texas and has lived in Austin for 25 years. He attended the University of Mississippi and holds a Bachelors Degree in Music Education, All-Level from the University of Texas. As an Educator, he has been teaching Instrumental Music in the Austin Independent School district for 26 years. He is currently Associate Director of Bands at Covington Middle School and has worked as a percussion clinician for Austin area high schools and middle schools. At Covington, Arnie teaches percussion, concert band, the Covington Jazz Band and is director of the Covington Steel Drums program. He is a member of The Percussive Arts Society and Texas Music Educators Association. As a percussionist, he has performed in over 100 musicals including performances at New York City’s New Victory Theater with the Flaming Idiots. He has been the house percussionist at Zach Theatre for 25 years. Arnie has worked as a studio drummer and percussionist for radio, television and film sound tracks as well as various jazz and rock bands in the Austin area.
