DSR Private Lesson Rock Bands
So, your rocker wants to start a band? Great, fantastic, amazing. There’s nothing better (including soccer, dance, video games, martial arts, football, sewing, rock climbing, gymnastics and boy scouting – in our humble opinion) than jamming together with like minded people, with the common bond of creating music together. We know everyone has busy lives and have listened to your feedback. We are going to begin offering Monthly rehearsals for rockers who are taking private lessons with us. This will give them the opportunity to rock in a band setting, but won’t be an excessive time or financial commitment upon families. These monthly rehearsals will be held on Saturdays. Please read the info below and submit the form if you are ready to rock.
When:
The first Saturday of the month, starting October 4th. (*Start date will depend on how many we have signed up)
10:00am to 11:15am – 10 to 13 year olds
11:30am to 12:45pm – 14 and up
Who:
Anyone currently taking private instrument lessons at DSR who are over 10 years old and have at least 6 months experience on their instrument. (A minimum of a year for drums and we will help determine if the band format is the best option for them at this time) During their weekly private lessons, the rockers will learn their parts of the songs, with their instructors in preparation for the monthly rehearsal.
The bands will be made up of; Drums, Bass, Voice, Piano and Guitar (x2)
(If your rocker is a guitar player, who would like to be the bass player in a band setting, let us know.)
The singer in the band does not have to be taking voice lessons with us and we encourage anyone who wants to give it a shot, to let us know!
Where:
The big room at HQ. The band rehearsals will be lead by Shawn. The cost per rocker for the 1h 15 minute monthly rehearsals is $25 and will be drafted from your account in conjunction with monthly tuition.
More info:
– If you have a rocker who is younger than 10 who wants a band experience, please let us know. Once we get the first week of Saturdays filled with two rock bands, we will look to start younger bands on the 2nd through 4th Saturdays of the month.
– We will fill the spots on a first come, first serve basis, and also take into account age ranges and personality type.
– We will begin by learning classic rock songs to get everyone jamming together as quickly as possible. As the band develops, original songs and a variety of other genres of music will be incorporated, based on the bands direction.
– If you cannot make a rehearsal and give us a minimum of 24 hours notice we will add a private lesson make up to your account. If you no show to rehearsal or give less than 24 hours notice you will forfeit the $25 tuition.
– Unlike missing private lessons, where the rocker and instructor are the only ones affected due to an absence, missing rehearsals will affect multiple rockers in the band. The rock bands are designed as an opportunity for those that want to explore the experience of rocking together with others. Please only sign up for rock band if you are committed to the monthly rehearsals. Thanks.
– Wait list: If the rock band times currently on offer are filled, we will add you to the wait list and once we have enough rockers ready to start, we will begin a new band.
– Due to all of our available weekday times being filled with group guitar, there are no current plans to hold rock bands at any other time than Saturdays, at the time stated above.
