Piano and Voice Instructor
Rae Mascardo
Rae Mascardo began studying piano at age nine through private classical instruction, performing at recitals and festivals throughout her formative years. She attended St. Edward’s University, where she earned a degree in photography, and upon moving to Austin became deeply involved in the local music scene both as a performer and visual artist. She has toured nationally and internationally as a
keyboardist, and continues to perform locally on keys and vocals, recording with several Austin-based artists. In 2024, she was nominated for Best Keys at the Austin Music Awards. Her photography work documenting Austin’s music scene has been featured on numerous albums and EPs. Currently, she is focused on writing original music and training for dance accompaniment.
Rae began teaching three years ago and brings an open, student-centered approach to her lessons. She focuses on building strong music reading skills while also making sure students get to learn songs they enjoy. She meets each student where they are, whether they want to learn classical pieces, play their favorite songs, or start singing while they play. She believes music should be joyful, and her favorite part of teaching is building real connections with her students and watching them grow into confident
musicians who genuinely love to play.
